Title: De-condensating headlights
Post by: Bluest on 08 February 2026, 12:01: I get a small amount of condensation in my headlights when the weather is cold. Thought id try this to see if I can stop it. I bought some sachets of silica desiccant and.affixed some the inside of the access cover with double sided tape. Will it work? No idea, but I will report back.

I got as far as buying the silica gel, but didn't put them in as I was worried they would disappear inside, I never though of putting them inside the cover!!!

Post by: Bluest on 22 February 2026, 22:32: Early signs are that this is working. It seemed to take maybe a week or so for the gel absorb any moisture inside the lamp, but not noticed any for quite a few days now.

Post by: Bluest on 09 March 2026, 13:48: I'm disappointed to report that I'm still getting small amounts of condensation in the lower indicator area of the headlights in cold temperatures. I might try increasing the number of silica bags, see if that helps at all.

Post by: Finglonga on 11 March 2026, 10:16: I have zero condensation since I went with LED dipped/main D3S bulb and LED H7 cornering light bulb as they have fans on them and seem to stop the condensation. It was always there in the winter but nothing at all since fitting them.

Modern ones have the fan built in and they are the same size as standard Bulbs. I have been using the MAXGTRS ones for a few years, just upgraded to the new ones below with 3 sided LED's and they made a huge difference..

Post by: Finglonga on 24 March 2026, 19:42: They have stopped selling the ones I have but I got them from the place below.They are direct plug and play, no errors. Remember though, to fit them the the headlight needs to come out and the back plate needs removing. Plenty of how to videos on YouTube and it can be done without removing the front bumper.
