Title: Vibration from sound soundaktor
Post by: ianmb on 01 January 2026, 21:50
I am getting a strange noise at 2900 rpm ,when in sport mode noise is there, when you change to eco mode the noise disappears.
This has only started since the cold weather.has anybody else had this?

Vibrations from the soundaktor was fairly common in the mk7 GTI and quite a few posts on this over the years. With the mk7 GTI, many owners disconnected the soundaktor completely to stop the vibration noise. Don’t know if it can be disconnected in the mk8 / mk8.5 though; I might be wrong but I seem to remember reading it can be set to zero in the mk8 / mk8.5?

One of the first things I did in my 2020 Polo GTI+ was to set the engine sound to ‘Eco’ in Individual mode as I dislike the artificial / fake engine noise. As you’ve said, no vibration noise from the soundaktor when in Eco.

I had this on my old 7.5 and I know some people took it back to the garage and I think they used anti rattle tape. In my case I only had it in race mode so just turned the volume down via Carista until it stopped as not so keen on the sound anyway over normal.

I have found this though that might help if it’s the same setup.
