Title: Urgent electrical help required. Fuel relay troubles.
Post by: Mirage- on 25 October 2005, 09:18
Guys

I'm in a bit of a pickle here at home at the moment, having driven fine for the last week or so my 1.8 8v Gti (digi) 1988 has decided that it would much prefer to be a kangaroo!!!!

Basically all I can hear is the fuel pump relay clicking on and off randomly and so I thought that it must be the relay, replace the relay and still the same.  Any ideas before I take it to VW?

Cheers

Ian

If it is clicking on and off and the relay is ok then you might want to  check the power into it. On the power cable into it, it might not be connected correctly therefore not always getting a supply and therefore random clicking.  Check all the wiring connected to the relay.

I had as good a  look as I could this morning but couldn't see anything obvious missing from the back of the fusebox so although it will probably work out the most expensive option she's now down at my local vag stealership for a diagnosis.

Hoping to hear from them this afternoon.

Cheers anyway.

I get random clicking from my fuse box anyway though.  :undecided:

Too late now I guess, but doesn't the kangarooing mean it's possibly a problem with the ECU ?  :undecided:
