I'm thinking of a remap for the DSG box in my wifes 2019 7.5 performance dsg.
The gearbox seems to be absolutely pants compared to my Cayman GTS with PDK. It's slow to wake up, and when it does it seems to be pretty dopey, coming out of roundabouts in a high gear, taking what seems like an age to drop gears. Often when it does respond it goes from 5th to 2nd which just upsets the chassis.
I realise my Cayman is a different animal but they are so far apart even thoughthey are basically software led,Is there any remap to help the situation? Even in manual mode it seems a bit of a gormless box and spoils the car. My old 7.5 R manual was much more fun - well once the clutch was changed to a Helix. The Cayman DSG is just a joy to use as it's so well set up.

The ZF made PDK box is a very different beast to the Borg-Warner DSG although the performance versions work on a very similar principle.

I had an engine ecu remap and the DSG box remap at the same time on my 2019 7.5 performance and wow, the difference is amazing. The gearbox remap makes the shifts in sport mode way quicker and more snappy and I don’t notice any issues with it finding gears in general driving.
The only issue is trying to get the power down in this colder weather with damp roads. It’s often better in normal than sport otherwise it’s spinning the wheels for grip. I also don’t get great mpg in mixed driving but cruising on motorway is alright.

Always tricky getting traction in this weather in most cars with a reasonable amount of grunt to be fair.
How much was the gearbox remap out of interest?

I think it should have been £299 for each but doing both it was £499 in total.

Does a remap improve fuel economy? I have a GTE.

I was generally under the impression that it could improve it but I would say mine is definitely not better.

I had a REVO stage 1 remap done at VAGTech in MK years ago but they didn’t have the file for the DSG remap available at the time.
Not that I’d get to enjoy it this time of the year but might get the gearbox done next time there’s a sale to see how well it complements the ECU remap.
