Title: We Connect. Should I set it up 8.5 gti?

Is it worth having We Connect? I've had my 8.5 gti for 9 months now. I went to set it up a couple of months ago but it wanted to do a shop update to set it up. I don't want nothing to mess up if I update it. I know if I don't set it up I won't get any OTA updates. Do you really need them? Has anyone had any problems with updates?

The only thing you need to do for we connect is to have a logged in user.

After that your car is talking to vw and you can control it.

Shop updates BTW won't break anything. Almost certainly the "update" was updating some legal disclaimer
