Has anyone recommendations for where is best to buy Clubsport S front discs for the best price? I see Killerbrakes on line and eBay, but wary you get hit with import duty as they seem to be coming from Romania and then you are no better off. There used to be a few people doing a group buy in years gone by, but I can't see any deals being offered nowadays.
Will need replacements for my TCR which use the CSS discs and want to keep it OEM.
-
I am interested in this - and a group buy if one is set up.

Maybe here https://www.powerbrakes.co.uk/products/shw-performance-2-piece-front-brake-discs-pair-for-volkswagen-golf-mk7-gti-clubsport-s?variant=47625264922954&country=GB¤cy=GBP&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&srsltid=AfmBOop7pRCcgciuXTVu-zBEpp8yPYfDOmqI3CMBvvd5sxBca5wz86-Wf_k

They do genuine ones too. £10 cheaper for a pair.

They are £60 delivery, plus potential import charges from Romania.
-
Autodoc have the SHW ones which I'm sure who make them.

Oops. Missed that.

Yup, I got those about a year ago.
-
Are SHW definitely the genuine manufacturer ones? Who makes the genuine pads? Why would you buy these when Progressive Parts are cheaper for a pair?
-
Ferodo make the pads, or at least made the pads when I bought them.

I had a feeling it was Zimmermann who made the discs
-
They certainly make a disc that looks exactly the same.

-
Yeah that the ones, its either an expensive to produce copy, or the German brake manufacturer makes them for VW.
-
Fitted Zimmerman on our old SQ5 and found them superb. Would definitely use them without hesitation
-
Zimmerman are OE on some Porsche, I have fitted 2 x sets on a 911 RS, wouldn't use anything else! :)
-
Slightly off topic - how do people feel about fitting perforated discs on the rear of their GTI's?
Price wise they aren't much more or stick with the OE look?
-
They are not Zimmerman's, they coat their discs in the anti-corrosive paint entirely whereas SHW only coat the hub and the vents.
SHW are the manufacturer for VW, this can be clearly seen in the second photo where the maker is stamped on the bell housing https://www.killerbrakes.com/product/front-clubsport-s-brake-discs-340x30mm-5q0615301c-new/?srsltid=AfmBOorp3-mkQXc8djn_n9mO2wZbkLN9ODTIOSFcq5EOHXxRGdE2hd_7
I got a great deal on Auto Doc last year for €250 for the pair.
Pads are made by TRW, personally I went with Ate ceramic pads for my SHW discs and wouldn't go back to semi-metallic pads https://www.vagbremtechnic.com/genuine-mqb-clubsport-s-front-brake-pad-set-5q0698151ag/
Finally, yes I also installed matching vented and drilled discs on the back from VBT and they complete the look nicely https://www.vagbremtechnic.com/vbt-drilled-rear-disc-pair-310x22mm-clubsport-s-pattern-5440744126cs/

Do you know where I can find the logo as I can't see it on my discs/hubs?
Interesting about the pads, the image on that site you linked to doesn't appear correct for some reason, the part number in the pics don't match the Genuine Clubsport S part numbers. My Clubsport S pads came from VW in 2019 and were in a Federal Mogul box as you can see on the previous page (label says federal mogul, which is Ferodo or Jurid) I wonder if they changed brands? Or Federal Mogul made them for TRW??
We sometimes see Exedy clutchs in LUK boxes, lots of filling in gaps in product ranges by manufacturers.
-
I'm coming to the conclusion that maybe the TRW logo might be misleading - the braking system VW use is either ATE or TRW, it could be that this is why TRW is on the pads to indicate they are compatible with your brake calliper - my OE pads I've just taken off had Jurid stamped in the little window section - given a choice I wouldn't buy Jurid pads.
Now I've started using ceramic pads I wouldn't go back - this time I bought ATE ceramic pads but next time I'll be trying to find someone selling the Zimmermann ones.
-
They look to be only slightly more expensive than Ate on AutoDoc, I'll also go for them next time around https://www.auto-doc.ie/zimmermann/7789437
This is a photo where the logo is on the hub, depending on your alloy style you may need to remove the wheel to see it.

Found a UK based site selling the pair of SHW’s for £390. I can’t comment whether the site is legit but the price seems to be a bargain and they look identical to the CSS brake discs. https://www.powerbrakes.co.uk/products/shw-performance-2-piece-front-brake-discs-pair-for-volkswagen-golf-mk7-mk7-5-r-340mm?search=top-products (https://www.powerbrakes.co.uk/products/shw-performance-2-piece-front-brake-discs-pair-for-volkswagen-golf-mk7-mk7-5-r-340mm?search=top-products)

Just putting this out there, I have this kit (hooked) on my Mk7 GTI..
https://www.awesomegti.com/awesome-disc-and-pad-combo-mqb-platform-340mm-f-310mm-r/
Noticeably better than stock.

Clubsport S set up is pretty good, but it is also light. Do you know what yours weigh? Can't see it in the spec.
Thanks
-
I don't know the exact weight, sorry, but I did find this if it helps.
https://www.vagbremtechnic.com/blog/weight-watchers-we-examine-3-popular-brake-disc-options-for-the-mqb-platform/#:~:text=Last%20but%20by%20no%20means,performance%20from%20the%20MQB%20platform.
The CS discs aren't handed are they? That was one thing that put me off about them.
-
On yours the hook is handed but not the cooling vanes.
The lightweight discs in the article are handed but run for 3x the price of SHWs.
