My water pump is leaking slightly I have had to top up 3 times.
Took the car into VW as I have all in warranty ,they sent pictures off to Vw ,they have requested more pictures.
The car is 1 owner from new full Vw service history,23000 miles.
I am getting the feeling they are going to try and get out of paying for it.
The technician said it was the plastic part that was leaking,I understand if I want to replace the thermostat and belt I will have to pay for this.
Have any other members had this reaction from a warranty claim.

I would highly doubt a warranty claim will be rejected seeing as its a 1 owner from new car having covered 23000 miles with full VW history considering water pump failures are commonplace and the waterpump has been revised.

Yes. They tried it with me last year when a leak was identified by the technician on my annual service.
The service advisor suggested I “ keep an eye on it “, I then spoke to the service manager who said something like “ it might not be done under warranty “ and likened it to misting from shocks.
I let her know that I wasn’t going to accept it- the fault has been identified by her own technician, it is not a serviceable item like a shock or a brake pad, and they will have to replace it.
She understood that I wouldn’t accept it- so they presumably went back to VW as said as much.
The next morning they called me to say it would be done under warranty.
I get the impression vw have lost so much money on these claims that they’ve sent a directive to dealers that claims will only be accepted if there’s a significant leak.
It is true that some of these are such slow leaks that the fluid loss is barely noticeable- and you could probably manage it for years-but really VW should be doing better.
Oh, and yes- I think I had the same response regarding water pump- if it’s working they don’t replace. I didn’t argue that point- as long as the repair is done that was satisfactory for me.
Anyway, I didn’t renew my service plan- and I’m very pleased I didn’t.

Some times I do wonder what part the dealer plays in this as I guess our all-in-one warrantees are with VW finance (I think?).
As I've mentioned I'm in the process of claiming for a lack of interior heating which has 'currently' been diagnosed as the heater matrix and I was just waiting for final confirmation and the parts to be ordered - last week I got a call to say that VW required another day to do further tests, maybe it's not done and dusted as the matrix - believe me I would rather it was something else that didn't required the dash to be removed - still waiting for feedback with an update.

When I rang to book my car in ( to investigate the visible coolant leak)to be looked at the service advisor advised ringing VW Assistance. They sent out a technician who diagnosed the pump/ thermostat and had the car recovered to the dealership.
It was done under warranty and I was put in a courtesy car for a few days too.
