Hi all. To get straight to the point, I noticed a headlight lens crack on my MK8.5 GTI recently. Instead of replacing the headlight lens unit totally, I opted for replacing the headlight lens itself after being told it can be done (risky). I know that these lens aren't actually meant to be removed but stupidly, I want ahead anyway... Managed to obtain the supposed new gen lens and gave them to a mechanic near me who has experience with these sorts of changes.
Couple days later.... mechanic rings up to say the new lens doesn't even fit the headlight! That's after removing the previous lens....
Leaning towards just sealing the previous lens back on and now just replacing the whole unit instead. Probably should've done that in the first place.... There seems to be no headlight lenses available for the MK8.5 as well.
How much should I expect to pay for a new headlight unit? Assuming it will be probs min £3K?

About £1500 for one from vw.
Might be able to get one from a breaker for less but that's a bit of a dice roll.

Thanks for the reply mate. £1500 isn't bad to be honest, I'll confirm with VW this week coming up but if true I might get it sorted ASAP. Bit worried about how long the previous lens that's been resealed lasts before water gets in...
