Rip off mechants!!, u only pay for the stamp in ur service book dont u really!

a lad at work had his mark 4 tdi serviced not so long ago, and they rang him up saying "u need new wiperblades, shall we change these for u?", so he asked how much extra and they said "17 quid", he almost fell off his seat!

At least they asked if he wanted them changed, they could've just changed them and then charged him for them!

true but i think he specifie that they were to ring him if anything else needed doing!

i was gonna take my valver into the stealership to see if they could see what the knocking noise was but i wouldnt trust them with it, alot of them have prob never worked on a mark 2 gti before and would prob know f**k all about them!
Its a scam these days for servicing, coz they know that with out the stamp on the service book u cant really sell the car, so they charge silly prices.

A guy i know has a tommy makinen editon evo 6 and his next service for it is 500 quid, it gets the usual things done but needs the diff bleeding, still tho 500 quid is a bit steep!!

I dont give a sh1t about the service stamp... If i was buying a nice golf and the chap said, i dont get it serviced by VW, i'd see this as an advantage! As long as he DID get it serviced somehwere!

Likewise, if i was selling, i'd explain that it has been serviced by myself or dad from new, and that VW will never touch the car, and if they didnt understand that the service i carry out is better than VW's, then i wouldn't let hiom have my car

Know what i mean

i feel that as long as you've got proof in the form of receipts for parts, works done etc then the dealer stamp means nothing.

I'd rather get my car serviced at a local independet who gets their hands dirty not ponce around in clean overalls

yea i prefer to do my own, its only a mark 2 so its not as if it needs service history (although it has got it all there - not from a vw dealership tho - which as u say is a good thing) so i have got all the receipts for it and am gonna put that in with it and right down what i have done and at what mileage! Did mine at the weekend actually!

Is it just me, but what's the point in having a service stamp without a VW reciept ?  :undecided:

Or has Blue got hooky reciepts too !
