On today!
2kg lighter per wheel than Parkers and they sit out a bit too.
Thanks to Liam at CM Wherls for waiving the £30 carriage when I mentioned this forum.
I’m very pleased with the change in appearance.
I will thoroughly clean and store the Parker’s for the day I sell (if I ever do!)

They look like the old Monza wheels from the MK6 and suit the grey very well
-
Thanks for that.
My pal got an 8.5 with the 19” Queenstowns in January and I was very taken.
Then I spotted this on Reddit. Someone (in US) had photoshopped the wheels onto a grey 7.5.
And the itch had to be scratched……

I think they also suit the mk7.5; probably because the side profile of the mk7.5 isn’t that much different to the mk8.5.
@P6GTD;
- be sure not to get too close to pavement kerbstones; from your last picture, your tyres don’t look as if they provide too much rim protection against kerb rash.
- my car OCD would force me to line up the bottom of VW emblem on the centre caps with the valve stems; like on the photoshopped picture of the US Golf you posted . If you do decide to realign them, be sure to push them out from the reverse side to avoid damage to either alloys or centre caps. Alternatively, use one of those suction cup puller tools that you attach to the front of the centre caps .

I’m impressed. They look surprisingly good on the 7.5 and realy do suit the colour scheme very well.

SRGTD : thanks for tips.
I put on new Firestones as I always found the rim protection among the best but I see what you mean.
I went with 225 as I always wanted the ease of dropping back to my original alloys at any time. I think 235 on 7.5J would not be good.
The original alloys are 7.5J while Queenstown are 8.0J which means that while within the safe recommended range, the new combo is a wee bit stretched.
I got the Firestones at £380 all in for 4 on a Blackcircles offer. As it would have cost me £80 to swop the existing tyres (3mm), I figured I would just go all in so hopefully no tyre fitting “jemmys” on the Queenstowns for a couple of years.
I have never replaced original alloys before so this took a lot of agonising. Always wanted to stay at 18” though. I looked at Racingline Evo, OZ Leggera Grigio and versions of 18 Prets.
I like my new alloys as they are a nod to the new 8.5 and therefore have VW “vibe” about them.
The centre caps with red ring are TCR from one of the optional alloy choices (Belvedere maybe?) The red flash just catches the eye against the calipers.

PS : the tyre/rim situation might be a slight optical illusion because the face of the Parkers was tight against the tyre edge but the new wheels have a groove running in around the meeting of the alloy and the rubber.
Anyway, that’s my hope!

I'm also running 225 on 8J rims, good to see I'm not alone. 235 is slightly too off-roady looking for me.
-
Damn you SRGTD!
I’ve now taken the centre caps off and lined them up with the valves.
What kind of pervert are you???
Wheels are getting a few comments with the words Alfa Romeo featuring.

And 225/40s on 18s look too small to me.
One of the reason Mk7s look so good on 19 inch Prets is that the wheels and tyres fill the wheel arches well, and to match a 19 Pret set up with 18s you need 235/40s - and even then you are still (fractionally) smaller than the Prets. Take a look at your OZs again, you know I'm right ;)
Good thing we are all different :)

  Ha ha! Welcome to the centre caps OCD club. Wait until you need new tyres……will you have a sleepless night worrying whether the tyre fitter will align the centre caps correctly with the tyre valve stems? Easy solution - remove your centre caps before going to the tyre fitting depot and refit them yourself when you get back home!. Also, if you have a physical volume / on-off knob on your infotainment unit, make sure the on-off symbol on the knob is correctly aligned. Quite a few posts on the forum from a few years back on the subject - either on the mk7 or mk6 forum board .
Agree that Queenstown alloys are bit Alfa-esque.
