Hi Guys
My daughter has asked me to change the engine oil in her 1.6 Match MK6 Diesel Golf.
Iv'e looked in the owners manual and all it says is VW507-00 absolutely nothing about what viscously it should be, I'm guessing VW only want clients to buy their oil.
It doesn't even say how much is needed for a complete refill with a new filter.
Can anyone out there tell which make of oil they are using and the viscosity and just for the hell of it the total quantity needed?
Thank you

No, that's not it at all. It's an oil specification, search the value and you'll find a whole range of qualifying products.

5w-30 or 5w-40 but it must meet VW507-00 standard. This is normally listed on the labels on oil bottles of brand makes. (Castrol for example put it on the labels on the rear, QX put it on the label on the front)
The 5w-30 is normally the longlife oil and the 5W-40 the time and distance oil.
VW use Quantum oil which is actually normally cheaper on Ebay/ amazon than brand makes especially as you will need 4.3 Lts if changing the filter and some brand names its only in 4Ltr cans.

Thanks for your replies fellas, I'll probably go for Castrol EDGE 5W-30LL.
Thanks for the Google link Adam, I suppose I'm use to finding such information in the owners manual, but it appears not so these days.

Np, paper is rapidly becoming a thing of the past. Pity really, love a decent manual😂
