I dunno wheter to use 2 sets of components in custom made door builds or 1 set. I'm running 2 12s as well... debating advice please
-
First of all why do you possibly want 2 sets?
If you are considering 2 sets then go for a nice 3 way active setup up front?
6.5" midbass or 8"
4" mid
tweeter
Or failing that just get a 6.5" component set that take a lot of power if you want volume.

well in my other car, I got 1 set in the front, and 1 set in the rear. whichl sounds excellent!!! but mk2 golfs don't have that sort of space at the back.
the reason for 2 sets is simple, extreme SQ @ loud volumes, with earth shattering bass.
both SQ & SPL users have given me top rating for the way my set sounds

That's cool, got for 2 mids in the door then and the tweets on the a-pillar or dash
It's just that some people think more speakers = more volume (using existing amp power) which as you know is rubbish. Putting more power into speakers will = more volume.

I wanna save wieght abit, but at the same time want sq.
I'll running 2 12s, so I not sure if 1 set of components will get over powered by the bass.
Is anybody running this set up??
front components
2 12 subs
2 channel amp (for the components)
Mono Channel amp (for the subs)
Let me know how it sounds

Depends how much power you feed the components and what they are rated at.
I would think talkaudio.co.uk would be best to post on in all honesty, that way you will get a dedicated board of people to answer this.
I've got a set of 6.5" comps which will get about 300wrms each side from a bridged 4 channel amp passively. The plan is to go active and give the mids 300rms and the tweets 100rms each side
