Dumb question but what colour is this? Dealer described it as moonstone grey. But the touch up paint that arrived isn’t it.
Any ideas? Can t find any paint code labels on the car anywhere.

Paint code LA7C is correct for VW Moonstone Grey.
VW used to attach a data label including paint code details for the car to the boot floor or the spare wheel well, and a second copy of the label in the front of the service book or owner’s manual. However, with service records having gone digital there’s no longer a service book and I think VW owner’s manuals are also online now. I also think they’ve stopped putting the data label in the boot.
With those see-through paint pens, sometimes the paint can appear to be wrong colour in the pen and needs a really good shake for a few minutes so the agitator ball in the pen can mix the contents thoroughly. Once mixed, in case it’s the wrong colour I’d try it on a piece of white card first and hold it next to your car to check for colour match.
If the paint doesn’t match, that suggests a Moonstone Grey label has been attached to a paint pen containing something other than Moonstone Grey paint.

Yes did give a good shake and painted on a bit of paper. Came out the same - more of a clay colour . Just wanted to check before ordering from another supplier I was even asking for the right colour . Will try again and see what happens

You can get touch up paint from your dealer, direct from VW. Not too expensive either.

Turns out the paint in the first picture was a dud and not he right colour dispite the label. After getting the genuine vw one all was sorted.
