Title: Android Auto/Google Assistant Issues
Post by: ironictoaster on 04 May 2025, 21:51
Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has issues using Google Assistant in Android Auto in their car? Recently moved from Apple to Android.

Google Assistant on Android Auto sounds bad compared to Siri on Apple Carplay. Google Assistant sounds like a low bandwith phone call.

Not sure if this is a headunit issue or a google issue, very little info on this issue online.

Hey there, not sure if it will help but I was having issues with connecting to the car  initially with android auto, it would just drop out of connection now and then and not reconnect.
Went back to VW for diagnostics and they found nothing which is good.... But didn't solve the problem... I turned to Google and after a few hours of searching and reading utter rubbish at times the general consensus was my phone was too old (2021) to keep up with the cars software. Some people said trying to do a hard rest on the phone before buying another new one...
I did this and so far so good no more issues.
As I said not sure if relevant to you but maybe a help???

Hey, I do not have connection issues to be fair. I moved from Apple to Android recently and couldn't believe the audio quality between android auto and CarPlay, especially when using google maps for navigation. Android Auto sounds like an old landline compared to Apple CarPlay  I made a comparison video here

Sounds like you have a custom voice?  I have a Sony Android device & it doesn't sound like yours

I agree, check your text to speech settings and see which one you've got selected, try a few different ones.
