Title: Painting discs with High temp paint

After 15000 miles and 2 years, all 4 brake discs have rusted again on the hub part.

I painted my last set with high temp paint, so am looking around at different paints and wondered if anyone has tried this stuff? On other forums they say this is better than Hammerite, Ie no undercoat, on rusty bits. Thoughts?

I have painted the hubs on all my Golfs as I can’t stand the rust and painted hubs are easy to clean.

So, first thing I did on my current car in March 19 was two coats of Hammerite “textured” bright silver.  Still perfect after 45 miles/ 6 years.

Always amazes me to see how few bother with this.

Thanks, but was it a new tin, or the old stuff?

The formulation changed about 15 years ago and it’s not as good as the good old days!

I was told Rust Oleum is much better than modern hammerite, hence why it’s more expensive!

Just bought it from Halfords in 2019. I think it’s easy to bespoke. Go by the experience of others.

I found some 2008 vintage hammerite in my parents garage and have used that, apparently it got rubbish post 2011, so fingers crossed!

Just helped grandson do this on his 2 year old audi. All wheels rusted on and took gentle tap with sledge hammer on tyres to release them  :whistle: Have found in the past that heat resistant paint is not necessary on hubs just callipers. Currently using body panel silver paint. See how long that lasts.
