Hi, I have a 2013 Mk7 Golf with Discover Pro sat Nav. I wanted to update it, as it was 2013 software. i managed to get 2024 software, unzipped it and moved to an SD card. I then followed the update process and the car seems to say it has the new software but doesn't appear to be using it. Is there anything else which has to be done to install it? The version information now says V03959821DK0350 ECE 2024 . Other information is Part Number 5G0035020H Hardware H41 and software 0179. Does the firmware have to be updated at the same time? I've tried factory reset of navigation unit and powering off and on, but still it appears to not be using the new map. Thanks

Hey Steve,
I have been where you are only a few weeks ago.
i got mine working, but it was just a waste of time, because it doesn't give you real time traffic issues and work around routes, unlike google maps.
I decided to bin off the factory navigation, and opted for a apple carplay/android auto upgrade instead using a purchased SD card.
This afforded me the option to use the Car-App option, and thus google maps or waze from my phone.
I used these people, and was not disappointed.
Maybe consider this option, unless you really wanna use the factory system. I was advised by a VW parts manager that they urge customers to go with the car-app activation.

Hi, I'm really interested in installing Android auto in my Mk 7, how does it work, where can I access it on the head unit?
Thanks in advance.

Dobbs, the SD card once loaded csn then be removed. Then you simply use the Menu button, to go into the options, and Android Auto will be ready to use. Press the tab and *whalah* google maps or Waze, depending on your preference.

It normally needs to be a genuine SD card to work

not in nav pro it doesn't. You only need genuine card in Discover media and even that doesn't need to be genuine depending on where you get it from.
