Title: Can we please talk suspension?
Post by: Wayne.R on 17 March 2025, 13:45
Hello all, I think my top mounts are dying or have died.
Each first drive of the day gives me a real creaking sound as if the top mount is moving.

Given my car is 101k now, and using the electric damping shocks, they are likely dead as well.

I've found monroe electrical controlled shocks, for £360 a pair front and rear, or I could go Bilstein non- electric controlled route and do away with the mode button, for a sole single set up.

I don't drive it hard and it won't see a track..I have my Focus RS for that.

It's just a daily car.

Can I ask what people think and what they've done when met with the same issues?

Can I go the non electric controlled route? Would I have to code out the signal on being unplugged?

Or is this creaking a normal sound.

On driving, it's not banging or giving any vague steering.

Last MOT did identify a light misting of oil on the front, but on inspection I can't see any oil staining on any of the damper tubes.

What are my options guys??....

Cheers for the input

Wayne.

Mine has been a bit creaky from new. Works fine so not been bothered by it. I'd guess at 100k suspension is not going to be at its best but, if it goes okay do you really want to spend the money if it is your daily?

I’ve recently had Racingline dampers and springs fitted to mine it’s a night and day difference to the feel of the car, it’s a little stiffer and a great deal sharper in the corners but still very smooth overall

Hey bud, was your car using electric dampers or conventional suspension before you upgraded?

Do you happen to have a link to the parts you used?

Cheers
