Title: Exhaust Problem - Any Advice Welcome
Post by: metroarea on 24 October 2005, 12:56
Hi All,

My Mk2 8v is shortly to be mine no more. However, at the weekend I had an exhaust issue that I need to sort before selling it. My exhaust is attached to the undercarriage at the rear end with two metal "hooks", one on the undercarriage and one on the exhaust - and a rubber thing that hooks over each one to hold the exhaust up (i assume this is the same on all standard exhaust set-ups? Anyway this has broken, so the exhaust is now hanging too low and vibrating all the time. I assume I can either go to a scrap yard and get one of these or buy one somewhere - its hardly a complicated part. But does anyone know exactly where/how best to get one of these things?! Any advicve much appreciated as ever.

Cheers

they onlt cost a pound or so from vw main dealer. i used various o-rings before but the vw rubbers are much better!

Simple!
I hate working Exhausts myself. Fiddly jobs! Go to a tyre/exhaust centre and get them to fix it, will be very cheap.

Cheers everyone, much appreciated. I'm flogging her in a few weeks anyway so just need to make sure the exhaust isnt scraping it's ass; at least until it's out of my hands!
