Hi all, I bought my 2017 GTI in 2021 with 17K miles. As far as I am aware no work had been carried out on it apart from Servicing.
Since I have owned it I have regulary had it serviced at a local garage - but never done any other work.
Im currently on 56K miles - what additional work / extra servicing would you reccomend in the near future.
Cheers

Auto or manual?
Auto needs DSG gearbox oil change at 40k.

I think that's the 6 speed, the 7 speed is 80k miles although I probably wouldn't want to leave it that long.
If we are talking a performance model then the diff is every 3 years or 30k miles. Brake fluid changes every two years.
-
Sorry its a manual

There is always the dreaded thermostat housing that leaks on pretty much all GTI's and requires replacement.
-
I’ve booked my 60k service at VW in March. When they looked at the system they came up with,
Major service including oil change and spark plugs
plus extras
Brake fluid change
Air con service
They said DSG fluid change is at 80K (7 speed) and mentioned nothing about diff oil.
Car is 2019 GTI Performance.
Should I query the front diff service or is that only for the Golf R.
-
Ha ha, they don't mention changing the VAQ diff oil as they don't know anything about them and the servicing requirements.
Have a read through this thread - https://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=288457.0

In addition to the diff, does it need an air con service?

Also as you have a 2019 car (like mine) then the brake fluid should have been changed first at year 3 (I think VW since changed this) then every 2nd year, so I had mine done last year (5th year) but won't be due until next year at year 7.
I'm about to book mine in for the beginning of March as my MoT runs out at the end of March - all on my service plan although as this is year 6 I'll be paying for the VAQ service.
-
Booked in for first week in March. Year 6 service, oil & filter plus pollen filter all covered by the SP - VAQ booked as well without a problem - £146 (probably plus VAT).
-
Service was done this week and I asked about the VAQ diff and so they did the oil service on it as well for £155 inc VAT.
So that was 60K service with spark plugs, oil and air filters plus I paid for the brake fluid change and the air con service too.
