Title: Broken Coil spring
Post by: SuperScaff on 20 January 2025, 20:27
After having one of my front coil springs randomly snap at the weekend for no apparent reason I’ve booked the car in for a replacement along with top mount for good measure, but should they be replaced in pairs? The master tech at the Vag specialist I’m using said not to bother only change the broken one, would you guys agree?

I personally would replace both, but interested to see what others think.
I've recently had to do the same on our Fiesta ST, rear spring snapped, so replaced both.

Seems logical to replace both - I’m sure springs lose memory over time?

Depends to some extent on mileage. Generally replacing pairs to match seems logical as you would with shocks.
