Any wise folk got any recommendations based on personal use in a Mk7.5?

Something I’m also very interested in. I’ll be doing my own oil change next year and was wondering whether to buy an oil extractor pump or just get underneath the car.
Shopdap.com did a video on an oil change on the mk8, in which he demonstrated draining all the oil with an extractor.
I’ve seen another similar video on a 7R- extracted with a pump, I think only around 300ml left after he lifted the car and undid the sump plug.

I've used both methods over the years and honestly for the Mk7.5 I'd still drop the sump plug if you can get it up on ramps or axle stands. Extractors are handy if you're doing it on the drive with no access underneath, but you never quite get all the oil out through the dipstick tube, especially with the engine cold - it just doesn't flow as freely. Warming it up first helps a lot if you do go the syphon route.
If you do want an extractor, the Pela ones seem to be the most recommended on here and other VAG forums, just make sure you get a big enough capacity for the EA888.
Only downside with the plug method is faffing about with the sump washer and getting the right torque on it, but you know it's properly empty when you're done.

Never quite trusted the extractor method and always had a garage so have done the floor crawl to make sure all the old oil is removed and I am well past retirement age!!
PS Had our mk6 from new, regular 6 month oil/filter changes and still no problems in 16 years and 100,000 miles. Carried that on with the mk7.5.

Nice collection of cars. I’m same as you on the oil and filter changes, every 6 months irrespective of mileage, must be an age thing.
