May have been posted before, but came across this yesterday. Short but interesting read.

My 7.5 does daily duties, so I don’t often get to drive it in anger. Easy to forget the “ blinding dynamic sparkle that you could never possibly expect”
When I do, i still find it an incredible car. Unbelievable how it grips and goes through fast twisty roads.

Same here. One of my favourite bits of road is joining the M3 from the M25. A tight set of bends and it just grips and grips. PS4S definitely help. OH doesn't enjoy it quite as much

I generally drive mine like Miss Daisy, but do love booting it every now and then.

Which is the beauty of them, quiet and comfortable when you want it which for me too is most of the time.

It really is the trick that no other hatchback manages.
In fact, I usually refer to mine as “ the golf” ( rather than “ the gti”) because, it’s used as a golf most of the time and “ a gti” only occasionally

Shamefully I’ve probably owned at least one example of most of those.
Like the mk1 I’m a bit of a relic myself!
