Title: timing noise

hi there ive had issues with a ticking noise upon acceleration from the front end don't think its mechanical as the car seems ok , this ones weird a strange dirty drain smell when applying the screen wash any answers much apricieted thanks once again

Two issues or one? I’m guessing the smell is caused by stagnation of the water in the washer bottle - empty it and refill with water and a washer additive or maybe something like Milton’s?
