Title: Auto dipping nearside door mirror when reversing
Post by: alland on 13 November 2024, 10:52
I nearly (whew!) kerbed my nearside Adelaide alloy the other day so decided to set up the auto mirror-dipping feature as per the instructions in the owner's manual (paper version, a bit of a rarity these days).

Following the procedure to the letter, I thought I had it set up (remembering to also select this feature in the "Vehicle" section on the infotainment screen). It did dip down to the position I had selected and presumably stored in the ignition key when reversing, however when I drove away forwards again the mirror remained in the reverse position.

I couldn't seem to get it to work correctly so gave up. Any ideas anyone?

First off, set the mirror up to your desired driving position when NOT in reverse, then with the switch at the ‘L’ position (RHD), put the car into reverse while the car is running, adjust the mirror to the kerb view you are happy with, that’s it! When you drive forward it will raise again. Also, the switch must be in the (L) position for the kerb view you stored to work in everyday use.

Yep, tried that and more.
When I drive forward, the mirror stays in the reversing position. At that point, if I go into the vehicle settings, exterior, in the infotainment system and de-select the "dip mirror when reversing" choice, the mirror then returns to the normal position. Weird.

You need to be going forward at a certain speed before it returns - think about 10mph but not sure.

Turning the switch to 0 or R will also deactivate the mirror dip, no need to go into settings.

Good to hear! I don’t think I’ve ever managed to set it right on the first attempt myself. It was the same with my 8.5 a few weeks back.
