Title: Timing Chain Kit
Post by: jonesltd on 08 November 2024, 11:35
Hi

I am trying to source a timing chain kit and I have been told the car has 2 chains and both need replacement? I thought there is only 1 chain not too?

Could someone from here that knows what they are talking about.

I have been told from AutoDoc the above information but also been told a number of chain differences therefore I am worried what information they are telling me about the number of chains required.

I have been told to get this one? but dont know if I need to order 1 or 2?

Personally I would be getting Genuine VW/Audi parts because of the quality for a timing chain. You would need your VIN number to get the correct chain kit.

Probably worth replacing the chain guides and tensioner as well while it is stripped down.

I'm pretty sure there's 3 chains, a cam chain, a balance shaft chain (?) and an oil pump drive chain with all the associated guides and tensioners.

It's a while since I've done one.
