Does it come up every time you start the car?

If so the sos unit is up the creak.

Being a mandated safety system it will b!tch a lot about it.

I used to get the SOS warning on mine along with the bongs.  It generally cleared itself after a few mins.

Was eventually resolved along with the bongs when I got a new steering wheel, but it took VW about 8 months to do that.

Are you in a MK8 or MK8.5?

Think it's a new steering wheel that cures it isn't it?

Been into the dealer, had an update but needs a new sos unit.
Apparently there is a re call on the fault, sos unit is on back order.

Yes, there is a recall on the SOS module. My dealer informed me of this even though mine was apparently working correctly; but it had to be done as the car is still under warranty. Job took about 1 1/2 hours including a "free" inspection check.
By the way, do we automatically get informed of all recalls?

You will be informed by letter of any major recalls that are a safety issue, the SOS module isn’t a recall in the true sense, and would only be replaced if there is a problem that limits its function and is necessary to correct a fault.

Sadly, this annoying fault goes all the way back the launch of the mk8 Golf in early 2020. VW claimed to have fixed it in mid 2020 but lots of people with cars built in 2021 and later were still reporting problems - usually intermittent. I think the problem was even worse on the Audi A3/S3. It took ages (years) for VW to come up with a proper fix. VW call it a 'voluntary recall' so you might have to approach the dealer to get it fixed under warranty. I haven't seen any reports of it on an 8.5.

My mk8 went for it's annual main dealer fleece (on one of the all in plans) and apart from changing the oil they did a sos unit software update.

It hasn't actually bonged about the sos unit for about two years... Hopefully it's not about to start again now...

My 22 CS had an OTA update last week and went in for a service this week, continuous bongs since! Had not bonged for 18 months since the sos and steering wheel were replaced, but they are back now as bad as ever I feel like this is going to be a fight to get fixed, only 6 months left on the warranty

Oh jeez.

If that's what mines going to do when it's finished installation then I'll be seeing how the all in warranty works... Massive argument I expect
