Title: Mk7.5 gti dsg auto hold
Post by: Ricsi168 on 25 September 2024, 20:12
Hello guys!

I would like to ask a question about auto hold feature of my golf 2019 gti dsg.
The feature works fine but is there any way to make it less aggressive, i mean if i activate it and come to a stop i press the brakes car stops green indicator light appears.
But when i want to take off the car jumps out its like when you drive a manual car and release the clutch too quickly.
I checked the settings in the abs module, can anyone tell me what does auto hold increase threshold maximum tension force means.
It sits at 10% does this mean if i press the brakes auto hold activate my brakes at 10%?
It feels like auto hold is holding the brakes too hard and when i try to start normal way the car jumps out.
Also it does not occur when i am not useing auto hold..

Thanks for any advice!

To be honest I used it once when I first bought my car and hated the way the car seemed to be yanked off of the brakes which is maybe what you are describing... after that I've never felt the need to engage it, I just use the EPB as if it was a normal handbrake and on hills the car doesn't roll back going from the footbrake to the throttle when in D.

I tend to ease away, and then pull off if you know what I mean. Sort if like a double manoeuvre! But its only really noticeable on hills, auto hold on the flat is way less aggressive.

Yeah similar to this, I tend to just tap the throttle until the brake disengages and the car starts to creep forward, then get back on the throttle

Hello guys!

Thanks for the replys. Yes i know if i just tap the pedal the car starts moving nice and smooth.
But maybe if there is a way to adjust the auto hold strenght i will try.
Anyone know anything about the parameter tension force 10%?

I'm pretty sure this can be adjusted with the likes of Carista and OBD Eleven from memory.

Yes i thinknthe adjust is possible.
My question is this tension percent is for the max force for the auto hold brakes?

I switched it off because it caused excessive wear of the rear brake pads. Mine is a 2019 with 30k miles (owned from new) and the rear pads were 80% worn v 20% on the front. The active cruise also wears the rear pads but I never use that anyway. Car drives much smoother without it and I also disabled the automatic parking brake for the same reasons.

What do you do when in slow traffic on a hill please?

Personally, old school, foot on footbrake, apply handbrake, car in neutral.

Yep very similar - foot on footbrake, car in neutral, when moving off put car in D and swiftly move from brake to gas - never had an issue and that includes the 25% hill I regularly drive up.

Thanks both, so no roll back using that method or excessive wear on the gearbox clutch? Or is hill hold active?

Had my GTI for nearly 6 years and used auto hold less than 6 times.

That's odd, are you sure the autohold is the cause of rear pad wear? I did 40k miles in my previous car and on near 50k miles on the current one and had autohold enabled all the time on both. I've not had any mention of pad wear on any service. I find the feature very handy as a switch on and forget system.

Mine has never been turned off and cruise control used regularly and had no abnormal Brake pad wear. They make driving effortless in stop start traffic.
