Hello guys,
What’s the best way to clean these seats?
-
On normal seats, I use a handheld steam cleaner for example, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124836225340
-
This is if you have a shop vac which can take water.
1. Knock the dirt with a brush, to break it up and let it get hoovered up in step 2.
2. Hoover the seats
3. Carry out a test spot in a hidden area with your chosen cleaner, I use Koch Chemie Polstar (or greenstar if it requires more punch) prior to use to ensure colour fastness.
4. Spray the cleaner on the seats and lightly agitate with a soft - medium brush or a scrub pad eg ( https://www.in2detailing.co.uk/products/in2detailing-multi-purpose-scrub-pad (https://www.in2detailing.co.uk/products/in2detailing-multi-purpose-scrub-pad) )
5. Extract the sprayed areas
6. Spray the seats with fresh clean water
7. Extract the sprayed areas
8. Spray the seats with fresh clean water evenly and spread by hand to ensure it gets into tight areas
9. Extract the sprayed seats
10. Park car in sunlight if possible with a window slightly ajar or pop the sunroof if you have one, until dry.
Done.
Before anyone asks why to spray with water twice, the first time is to remove any residual cleaner and the second time is to stop staining coming back up when it dries.

I give the seats a good hoovering then spray AutoGlym interior shampoo and wipe it with a damp microfibre.
-
I think the key is not to attempt a "localised" clean where your only trying to shift a particular mark.
Cleaning the entire area has less chance of leaving watermarks/tidemarks when it dries.
-
Surely this is a great opportunity to buy a top of the range Vax Spotwasher for the household.
Bask in the glory of how thoughtful you are without letting on, you only bought it to clean a mark off of your car seats! :)
(only used it on the Golf once so far).

That wouldn't work in my household, I'm not allowed to bring things in the house that have been used outside  One of the main reasons my car rarely gets washed.

On that basis Watts, you're lucky you don't have to sleep in the car! :)

Very true, although sometimes it might be easier
