11 yrs old.
I still love this car to bits.
Enjoy it every day and know his full history.
105 k from new, my spec.
He's called Wolfgang and I saw him being built in Wolfsburg.
Still so solid and good to drive. Full VWSH. No major problems that haven't been covered by Extended VW Warranty that expired at 100k.

Lovely. Mine is nearly 11 (in a few months). Drives great. Feels great. just hit 100k. Keep thinking at what point I get a replacement ... don't want any more computers, interference speed governing tech etc so there'll be a sweet spot to purchase a newer GTI.

Mine is only 7 years old (I bought it used in 2022) but it drives like a dream and everything "just works". As Jeremy Clarkson once said on TG (I think when reviewing the mark 6), the Golf GTI is "everything you could want in a small family car". I especially love the total lack of any sort of "Nanny state" driver assist (lane assist, autonomous breaking, etc), which I regard as downright dangerous. I think there are a few newer cars where you can still turn the lane assist etc off permanently (M135i?), but the vast majority you have to turn off the damn things (often individually) every time you start the car. For me, this is a complete PITA, and represents more than enough hassle to keep me in my lovely GTI for another 3 years at least.

Yesterday I was reading in the Mk8 section about people ordering new ones, and they are £40k! I was thinking my 2014 has just turned 10, only has 60,000 on it, drives lovely, no issues, does everything I want it to, I see no reason to change. I actually want to drive an older car, I don’t want to look flash, attract thieves. However after a good wash and polish, people often mistake my car for newer and comment on the Carbon grey as being such a nice colour! My Mk5 was nice, but this Mk7 is the best car I’ve ever bought.

I had the water pump fail at about 3yr. Replaced under warranty. Other than that...nothing to speak of.

Mine is 9 years old and approaching 100K. Going to treat it too a wheel refurb and a paint touch up in the near future.

Sorry as it's discussed many times, of you long term owners what is the consensus oil changes? I have a 7.5 @40k and probably keeping for a while, annual mileage 7-8k.

For you change the oil and filter annually.

My gti that I have owned from ordering 11 years ago is still tight and has 140k miles. I have serviced it myself since she was 3 years old. Replaced thermostat 6 years ago still all good now. Had an intake manifold go also but I think it was only a sensor on the thermostat as someone here pointed out after I had changed the whole unit. Have recently replaced the front shocks and springs when front spring cracked. Car has been bulletproof otherwise and will never part with it. I have a 530d now that does all the hard commuter miles so my gti miles are now all smiles.

A few k left in mine then.
Had a mk 8 1.5l as a courtesy car when mine was in for a service. Too much pointless and annoying tech for me. Glad to get mine back.
Quite rapid though.
