Title: Adelaide alloys 19inch
Post by: Togger on 04 July 2024, 21:31
Hi anyone know the best place to sell a set of used Adelaide alloys with the tyres? Took them off my mk8 I was looking at eBay but the fees are 13%. Thanks

Maybe there's a relevant forum you could try with 0% fees?

Not many GTI enthusiasts on here though?

I’d potentially be interested in purchasing these, what condition are they in? And where are you located?
Cheers, James

Hi sorry for the late reply. I’m in Crosby in Liverpool. They are in good condition I’ve had the front two refurbished (the back didn’t need doing) and 3 of them have tyres on and one needs a replacement tyre.

How is it that you’ve got mk7 centre caps on the wheels not mk8?

That’s a very good observation Mr Ex.

@Togger; are you also able to post pictures of the reverse side of the wheels showing the VW part no., spec details (diameter, width and offset) VW logo and manufacturers name for the benefit of potential buyers?

I’m only over the water on the Wirral 🙂, as @SRGTD has mentioned are you able to drop some pics of the backs please? Are they genuine?

Your pictures make me think that these are replicas!?, as they appear to have 56mm centre caps and the slightly smaller bolt holes that won’t accept the original bolt caps, note the distance between centre cap and bolt hole when compared to this picture of a genuine wheel. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with reps by the way, that’s what I have on my GTI, just something to take into account.

I’d agree. Also the genuine alloy in the picture you posted has been KBA certified (a German safety certification) as it has the KBA number on the face of the wheel near the hole for the valve stem. The alloys in the OP’s pictures don’t appear to have the KBA number which IMHO is another indicator that they may be replicas.

I'm guessing that these wheels were replicas as Togger seems to have gone quiet.

He may have made an error or he may have been disingenuous, but the Mk8 forum regulars always spot these things.
