Title: URGENT!!! Subframe

right oflks im having a right chew on with this subframe i am putting my wishbones in the
vr subframe ready to put in but the nut u take out to get the wishbones out of the vr one is
ceased solid

i got one out but the other one wont budge
i rounded the bolt off

so i ground it down to a 17mm rounded that off
ground it down more hammered a 16mm on broke the socket

now i dont know what to do but i need it out
help please?

Me n blue almost had this problem with my seats, luckly we managed to use some VD 40,

The bolt should have an outside head and an inside allan key slot, Assuming you have rounded both of these, your gonna need to drill through the bolt mate.

dont fancy drillin it yet thats the last option
luckily my neighbour has seen me struggling
and hes heating it up n havin a go in his garage

or i suggested welding a nut to the top of the knackered one to start fresh

problem number 100

right i have the bolt out arms out new bushes in my arms
but how the hell do i get them in the subframe its propper tight and
they are starting to rip the bushes ive used a hammer grease tryin to bend metal

still wont go in

not sure mate, When me and blue did it the two arms went in at an angle, tint the seat back 45 degrees towards to back seats and slide em in, if its stuff use some WD40 or grease.

im in north east i coudl do with some pictures though
as i cant seem to bolt the subframe up bolts seem to short now

i can bolt in the front of the subframe but the rear wont at all anyone
got a picture of the rear subframe bolts or sizes just ot know if i am using right bolts
i cant find nomore though

sorry i havrbt got no pics but i would assume you are using a mk3 rear subframe  - do you not have he bolts with it..

nope subframe came attatched to engine

i have sorted it now though some metal was bent from when i was getitn new bushes in
squashed it all back up now and bolts fit

is the vr steering rack same as my gti one as i want to change it
think ive done something to my gti one as they is bit of fluid comin out
from where them big links think its steering column goes onto the rack

if you are going to keep the 4 stud set up you need to keep your mark 2 rack. - however if you are going to go 5 stud then u can use the vr rack.

sh!t i did not want to read that i might chance it and hope its ok
but if its buggered gonna be a right chew on to swap
i want to keep 4 stud set up thats all cant i replace the part i thinks
buggered with one off the vr one or dont thye come apart
