Hi there picking up my new car tomorrow I’ve just rang the dealer and he’s said they have had to change the steering wheel because of a fault with the lane assist system, does this sound right, thanks
-
Yes, lots of mk8’s have had replacement steering wheels under warranty.
-
I'd be delighted with that, it should mean it won't suffer the awful errors that a rife with the MK8.
It must have been playing up and they did the right thing before selling it on. Great result for you.

I’ll echo that.
Good to see the dealer workshop getting that sorted before allowing customer handover

cheers ill post some pictures when I get back home thanks for the information

Can someone confirm what the steering fault is with the MK8s and what are the symptoms seen prior to replacement?
-
There are hundreds of posts about the problems Ade.
If you search 'Bong' most of those posts will be about symptoms related to steering wheel problems. A new steering wheel fixed the bong issues that I experienced for almost two years and the last 6 months with the car have been great.
The "Bong or no bong - a game for all your friends" thread started by Fredgroves might be a good place to start. It's really a problem between the wheel and the software interaction, which has been resolved in most cases with a steering wheel change.
