My car having hit the three year mark now tells me that We Connect Plus is now expired and I can spend £129 to have it back for twelve months.
Looking on my VW account it tells me that We Connect and emergency call are both still active.
In typical vw fashion the description of We Connect Plus reads like their usual guff which suggests to me that it's not telling the truth about what basic We Connect actually gives me.
Does anyone have a definitive answer or have I got to phone the bandits up?

By the looks of things if you want to use at least what you have now you'll need to take the plus option - seems the basic doesn't have the nav options.

Anyone know if it's possible to update the maps offline?
£129 a year for map updates and traffic is a bit steep.
Guess I'll be just using android auto for nav.
-
Yes you can update maps the old school way it seems for free
F you vw and your 129 quid a year.

Totally agree with you Fred.
I won't be paying for WC+ when my car gets into it's 4th year shortly. I use Waze on Android Auto almost all the time anyway.
Does it mean that the built in VW Nav won't work at all, or just that maps won't be updated and live traffic won't be taken into account for route setting?

My understanding is the latter.

I've held off renewing mine - although I do miss being able to plan a route on my laptop or adding POI and then sending them to my car so they are ready waiting for me.

Maps won't be updated OTA (you can still do it manually by downloading them from vw onto a usb stick like the Mk7) and live traffic is not received.

Use android auto or apple car play.... easy enough to do that on your laptop...
Honestly if VW had asked for 60 quid I'd have probably paid it, but no, they have to take the P.
