Should this be happening? Looking at the rubber seal that surrounds the top edge of the doors, I can see water behind that seal and the felt on the inside of the door is wet in places. I've had a good look at the door frame to make sure water isn't going behind that and from what I can see it's not.
Ever since the rear speaker seal issue, where I had to replace the entire carpet and underlay, I've been a little paranoid about water ingress!

Mine looks the same and pretty sure my MK7 was the same too.

Ah, good to know. Thanks. I'm always checking the frame seals just to make sure I don't get any more water coming in.

Same as mine and on any previous VW I’ve had with that type of door seal. I’ve never had issues with water leaking or dripping from those seals into the car’s cabin.

Same here - not sure of any product to go on the felt bits to clean and protect.

On the GolfMk7 forum they seem to recommend Sailkote

A dry lubricant was recommended on the MK8 section - https://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=289811.0
