The front assist sensor is behind the VW badge in the upper grille on the mk7.5 Golf. If its view is obstructed - e.g by heavy condensation, if you’re driving through very heavy / torrential rain or snow / sleet has covered the VW badge - then an error message can be displayed.
If the message was generated because of obstruction to the sensor, then ensuring the badge is kept clean and clear of weather-related obstructions should stop the message appearing…………unless there’s an underlying fault with the sensor itself.

Thanks for the reply, yesterday I did change the VW badge at the front to a black one..
Could that be the reason, in that case I’ll swap it back with the original VW badge and see if the error still pops up..

I guess the cover allows the sensor to 'see' through the original badge so any alternative badge would have to be of the same density?
Slightly off topic but I had an email this week from a dealer (not my local one) saying that We Connect had sent them a message saying it had detected a yellow warning message on my dash and that should bring my car in straight away so they could look at it.... well I've never had that before plus I might have had a warning three weeks ago first thing in the morning for my dynamic corner lights but that fix was just a simple turn-off and back on again.

Easiest thing to do is fit the original badge back and see if the fault remains.

100% the badge, mine shows errors when dirty, covered in snow etc.

Yeah, badge swaps are hard when the sensor is there, but badge skins still work and don’t affect it (at least it didn’t on my mk7.5).
