Hi
So after 75,000 miles, I have a snapped rear spring.
I’m looking at staying with standard height springs. Any recommendations to a brand?
Sachs aren’t available for a few weeks.

I would be careful in replacing springs as in that the 4 on your car will be "tuned" to your car, aftermarket springs may not be the same spring rate, etc,
VW probably list a multitude of different rear springs for a GTI alone taking into account if your cars 3dr, 5dr, non PP, PP, CS40, etc.
Yours will have splashes of paint on the coils to identify the spec of spring.
VW ones are about £90 each i think.

Replaced mine with OEM VW springs as they are perfectly good and mine lasted 120k miles.
Oh and if you are doing them yourself do not forget to disconnect the headlight level sensor as it will break if you drop the arm down.

If one has gone then surely the rest will follow in not to short order... personally i would replace at the very least in pairs and prob 4 to be safe / remove chance of future hassle.

It is best practice to replace in pairs, but you would choke on your tea if VW quoted you to change all 4 to be safe/prevent future hassle!!
They'd have to replace loads of torque to yield bolts and carry out an alignment when they had completed the job too.

Thanks for the info so far. Yes I will be replacing both rear springs.
Surprisingly Vw quote the same part number for all mk7 gti’s.

I can guarantee you there's more than one spring for a MK7 GTI depending on spec.
They may have all the same numerical part number but the letter/s after denote a different spec.

Pretty certain Bilstein B3's are OEM spec and height.

I can't see how that one same spring can fit all those different models when a CS40 spring rate is 10% stiffer than a GTI ???
Physically fit - yes, but actually be the correct spring rates - IMO no.

I must admit I was only looking at the standard and performance pack. Not the cs40.
I would expect that to be different.

Normally these aftermarket springs fit a multitude of Golf's with different specs, a one part number fits all approach, whereas a spring from VW will be tailored to fit a specific spec of Golf.
A 3dr Golf non PP will run a different spring to a 5dr Golf PP for example.
