Title: tyre stretching
Post by: Blue MK2 on 28 October 2003, 22:14
Ive herd that some people get there tires stretched on there rims so they can achieve a lower profile?

Wat does this mean?

16'' rimz with a low profile 15'' tire? e.g 195/45.15

No I think what you mean is they get a narrow tyre the same size as the rim and and stretch it to fit. Like a 185-50-15 stretched on to a 8x15 wide rim. A lot of the german boys do this and it looks very trick.

you get a look similar to this(http://hometown.aol.co.uk/AdmBarnett/golfi_rs_1_pic1.jpg)
I've just ordered a set of these for my car, cant wait to get them fitted - should be good for an extra 30-40 bhp according to the Clio RSi owner!!

I heard the same - it seems logical, but we shall wait for the scientific statement from those who seem to always know better ;)
