About a month ago another car skimmed my folded driver's side wing mirror. Fortunately only the cover came off and I was able to reattach it but the black trim near the small triangle window was cracked and is loose.
Does anyone know the name of this part?

Actually I don't think that's what you want but if you go to this page https://www.lllparts.co.uk/catalogs/vw/RDW/GOLF/827/8 then you should be able to navigate to the correct part.

Can you post a picture up of the actual part your referring to ?

It appears that that part is only available as part of the hinge assembly, not as a spare part from what I can see.
You can double check by visiting your local VW parts dept & they will be say 100%.

Yes, it looks to be an integral part of the door mirror housing and not a separate part.
@dfm I think the part number of the mirror assembly is 5G1857508FH9B9 but it’d be best to check with the local VW parts department to be sure.

Many thanks Jace and SRGTD. Frustrating that the force of the mirror cover being removed resulted in the damage pictured.
If I have time on Friday I may swing by VW for quote to replace.

Took my car in for its minor service and MOT which went smoothly. The dealer quoted for this part and with labour it would a bill of £501. I declined.
The car is getting on a bit now being a 2015 but I am in no rush to change it. If I do do any cosmetic work on it a wheel refurb will be the first thing I do.

Why not buy a 2nd hand mirror off eBay and swap it? it's only 3 bolts and a connector.

Good idea. I did think it's the sort of part I could get a pattern or second hand one for.

Definitely the most practical and cost effective solution

Agreed much easier to stomach. Looks like an electric folding mirror can be had for a £100 or so.
