Title: Stage 1 ECU and TCU Options. Revo, AMC, other?
Post by: ProtoCulture on 11 September 2023, 23:59
Hi all, I'm sure this has been asked a number of times but I wonder if anyone here has used AMC Performance for ECU and TCU tunes on their GTI?

I'm currently looking at options and currently REVO are at the top of the list for me for a number of reasons, but I know they're not the cheapest.

Anyone here have experience of AMC? They've quoted a fair bit less for a custom tune for both and I'm considering them.

Looking for any thoughts, stories, experience of them if anyone has any, thanks!

Currently also looking at different tuning options, curious as to the benefits of the more expensive options over the cheaper options. Also wondering is it definitely worth going for the DSG tuning along with an engine remap?

Revo currently have a 20% off sale.

I had Stage 1 ECU and TCU done at midland VW. Just to make sure they are singing on the same Hymn sheet.

REVO has a 20% off sale on, so its much more attractive, & yes definitely get the TCU DSG tune.

I had my R STG2 done at the Revo Performance center in Daventry, its well worth the trip if you local, saying that its almost 140 mile round trip for me to go there but I now have everything done/fitted there.

They don't just sell Revo parts either.

Just FYI the 20% REVO sale can't be used if you want both ECU and TCU as you can only use one of the offers and its actually cheaper to use the ongoing £200 off the TCU tune when bought with the ECU tune than it is to pay full price for both and use the 20% off instead. It works out at £814 (£200 off) verses £840 (both full price + 20% off).

I personally want the TCU tune too, I think the gearbox needs it.

So no first hand experience of AMC then? They quoted me £630 for ECU+TCU on my Mk7PP. Which is a good price, just that I've personally not seen much discussion/opinions on them, aside from Google reviews etc.

I know there’s always going to be a favourite amongst you guys depending on lots of things.
Location customer service price.
What I couldn’t get my head round…
Is the price difference between good reputable tuners
I know there’s many variables
But one in particular was twice the price….
Mountune are doing some good things now on vw cars….
More of a downloaded file but been around the ford scene for years
Been great coms with them on email
Dms in Southampton brilliant on coms and seem pretty fair on price
Lots of others offering flash cheap come to your house for circa £250
Unicorn seem to coming out the most expensive and the price where you go on this is the same
Revo trusted and all over
That’s just what I’ve found personally so far

I have heard that TVS are the go to people for DSG tunes. Lots of dealers over the UK. It's where I think I will be going (but Revo for the ecu remap) when the warranty expires!
