Post by: joey on 24 August 2023, 21:15
just wondering about all the posts about the problems with infotainment system, steering wheel replacements...etc on the earlier models,....does anyone know if the same problems exists on the seat Leons? or is it just VW golfs?? :undecided: would be interesting to know how they are getting on.

I’m also a member on seatcupra.net forum and many of the infotainment and software-related issues affecting the mk8 Golf have also affected the current Seat Leon, Cupra Leon and Cupra Formentor models. I can’t remember reading that Seat and Cupra models are having steering wheels replaced though.

With many current MQB based VAG models sharing parts / components and having the same or similar tech and software, commonality of issues shouldn’t really come as a big surprise. Not sure about Audi, but I’ve read that current MQB based Skoda models also have the same / similar issues.

We have an Audi S3 and a Cupra Born (which replaced an ID3).

Under the skin, the Born and the ID3 are the same car, but the Born is far less buggy. Similarly, my 2023 S3 has no issues like those reported here for Golfs.

Maybe there are faults happening in the background that aren't alerted prominently,  utterly I doubt it. The Born's rear camera has recently failed though, and we are yet to book it in under warranty.

There’ve been instances reported on the Seat forum with the Leon’s rear camera too - these mostly relate to the camera falling out of its of its mounting rather than the camera itself failing (Leon’s camera location is above the rear number plate rather than behind tailgate release handle). I’ve read of Seat dealers refusing to repair under warranty, claiming that an impact with another vehicle or object has dislodged the camera, even though there is no indication of the car having any damage other than the missing camera.

In my instance, the rear camera has a fault to stop it functioning, so I rely on the parking sensors instead. It's a fixed unit that isn't hidden under the badge/boot catch. It's not dirty or damaged. Haven't tried to reset the reported fault with OBD11 as I can't find my device.
