Title: wing on golf gti mk 7.5 very hot
Post by: Toppy on 16 August 2023, 16:52
Hi all, i am looking for some help and advice, after a normal drive of around 1 hour, I parked up and thought i noticed a slight rubbery smell i then noticed the wing areas towards the front at the drivers side and the bonnet edges were fairly hot (pretty much a over the centre of the tire). It didn’t appear to be the same at the passengers side but after 5 to 10 mins of checks the passengers side also was hot to the touch - I opened the bonnet and everything appeared ok but it did feel uncomfortably hot. I needed to drive back home and both sides were still very hot once i got back. I opened the bonnet for only a few minutes and the heat dissipated very quickly and both sides were ok to touch.
There were no warning lights on the dash, i also did a search on here and a google search and found 1 instance of pretty much the same issues in 2017 from another forum but with no resolution, obviously i will get it checked out ASAP but has anyone come across this before or have any ideas on what might be causing it?

Had the same and it was my car doing an active regen of the OPF.  I've had it do this twice in total and you usual get a drop in mpg as well.
Gets very hot around the driver side tyre.
