Stop start not working, says power consumption is to high, car was up to temperature but it was a very hot day,
Car is 5years old was wondering if the battery was on the way out.
-
Could be battery, could also be if you had your climate control on and it was working quite hard to cool then that could be the high energy consumption. Have you had your battery checked?
-
The battery was tested at the last service in March and was ok then ,air con was on quite high.
-
Not sure if to get a c tech charger ,will have another go tomorrow.
-
It’s quite common in my experience of GTIs for this to happen. After a short time on AC High the engine will run to maintain battery power.
It’s not a biggie.

There are certain conditions that need to be met for stop start to work - these are probably listed in the owner’s manual.
There’s a list of generic conditions listed in the article at the link below - they’re not VW-specific, although the list in the owner’s manual is likely to be very similar if not the same.

As already been said, your car has to meet certain conditions for start/stop to work.
I have noticed when i leave work and air con is working hard start/stop doesnt work, give it a while and then it works as expected, so sounds like normal behaviour.

I always turn my off but this AM I got a message flashing up before I turned it off that it wasn’t working - went into the Car menu to see why just out of interest - message flashed up ‘Cabin to Humid’, I guess one of many reasons.

Put the battery on trickle charge for a day, stop start started working straight away.
