Title: New member - Soon to be GTI owner!
Post by: TomAtkinson on 09 June 2023, 14:41
Afternoon all, good to be here!

I'm currently driving about in a 65 plate Audi Q3 and it's come to my attention that I could get a half decent Mk7 for the money that mine would sell for. I've always wanted a GTI so it's a no brainer, just need to tidy my car up before I can flog it.

Ideal spec would be Performance Pack, Dynaudio, Santiago alloys, but I'm not fussy. I am however torn between something older with less miles, or a bit newer with 90k on the clock. What do we reckon??

Any other things to keep an eye out for when looking?

Welcome Tom

So long as the GTI has been well looked after there’s no bad spec car to go for. Some options are more easy to come by and some are rare. None are essential. If you can’t find one with Dynaudio then VW did an accessory add on sub that gives most of the benefits of Dynaudio.

Thanks for the input!

My current car has 67k miles on the clock and a part of me begrudges going for something with more miles. But I feel that's more of a pyschological barrier than anything - like you say if it's been looked after properly then it's not a big deal.
