Hi,
I was driving home the other day in the dark, and I noticed something strange with the headlights, almost as if they were turning off (leaving the running lights on) just for a second or two, and then turning back on.
I got home and saw it happen, it's very intermittent, maybe once every 3 -5 minutes. Both headlamps going out, then back on. I thought it was the dusk sensor but I switched it from Auto and it still happened.
If it's both, it can't be the bulbs. Is there anything else I can try?
Thanks

Could be a loose connection to the ballasts

Hi. How old is your gti ? When xenons are about to come to end of life they flicker when driving, but not completely on and off. Could be the ballast as already said.
Thanks

After a bit more investigation.
When I disable the dusk sensor, it's only happening on one side, so I think it's the bulb.
I've ordered a DS3 and will attempt to change it myself (thanks VW for making it so difficult).
I think the dusk sensor is a different issue, but as I can disable it, I'm not too worried.
Thanks all.

I've changed it myself, it was very fiddly but i just wanted to say that if you're doing this, tape up the lights. Theres a sharp edge on the light opening and taping then saved me scratching them
