Title: Voice activation
Post by: GKR47 on 08 May 2023, 22:32: The voice activation does not work on my 2014 GTI.
Can anyone please advise if it was standard or an extra?

Post by: SRGTD on 08 May 2023, 23:51: If your car has either the Composition Media (no sat nav) or Discover Navigation infotainment units, voice control was an extra cost option even if the unit has a ‘voice’ button and / or you have a voice button on the steering wheel. If you have the Discover Nav Pro infotainment unit then voice control was standard.

Screenshot below from the December 2014 brochure below showing the different infotainment units; the main visual difference between the Nav Pro and the lower spec Composition and Discover Nav units is the Nav Pro has a larger display screen.

I had a 2013 2.0 GT TDI, one of the early Mk 7s, there were no GTDs available. I had to pay to have the voice control activated. I think it was a couple of hundred pounds. It wasn’t worth it. :sad:

Its better on the Mk8.... now only utter crap.
