Never had this before on any other car. The glass (doesn’t feel like glass, feels more like metal) is in tact so what do I need to fix it back into place? Is it a special adhesive?
-
I used silicone to stick it back on as a temporary fix while waiting for a replacement to arrive but it lasted 18 months. Replaced with a cheap piece from eBay which is working well.

Door mirror glass falling out is a fairly common issue on the mk7 / mk7.5 - see discussion threads below. Forum members who’ve had this happen have posted various methods of fixing the mirror glass back in place in the discussion threads below;

Thanks for this. I’ll take a look

Often when the glass falls out it is either lost due to the car moving along, or in my case it fell out whilst I was parking and smashed on the ground.
I bought a new one from ebay for around £8

Mine fell out on the first drive after the car was sat for 3 weeks during covid. Annoyingly it broke so had to buy a new one. VW wanted £60+ so I bought one on eBay for around £8. Peel the back off, stick on with the adhesive back, good as new. Can't go wrong for that when the price of a genuine one is a joke. Stayed on ever since

Quick update. Finally got around to putting the mirror back the other week. Just used some Sika Sikaflex EBT+ that I had and it's been stuck in place now for a few weeks.
-
Mine fell out last week, despite it already coming away & resticking it using Gorilla Glue
I bought one of these from Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09TW6HD7G?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

Easy to fit?

I would leave the mirror somewhere warm which will help the plastic to become a little more forgiving and then use something flat against the mirror glass to press home.
-
Yep, had this happen to both my mirrors on my Mk7 GTI
