Title: TMC traffic updates

Morning all, got stuck in traffic yesterday so i pressed the traffic button on my Nav Pro to which it reported no messages and a strike through the TMC icon??

Its the same this morning, Anyone else suffering the same?? Perhaps its an issue their end??

Is this a paid for service that might have expired?

Also do you need to connect your unit to your phones data via hotspot so it can receive a carry service?

Im not sure TBH, ive only used it on the odd occasion and its always worked.

I only have my phone connected via bluetooth for calls, no hotspot, phone/bluetooth connection worked fine this morning.


Edit - Appears to be affecting others too, so i would say its an issue their side.

Live traffic only works if you are tethered to your phone. It also shows busy roads in red on the sat nav screen.

Not used this much in the past. Usually use traffic england before journeys for roadworks etc. The Briscoda forum have a long thread on this. The transmitter is still sending the info via classic radio (multiplexing by supplier INRIX) but recently  many car makes no longer receive the messages including skoda, fiat and honda. Satnav firmware update has been tried, map updates tried and media reset tried. Does tmc still work on the mk8?

Mines still not working, neither is it in my partners A1.

After reading the Briskoda thread it seems its affecting all makes not just VAG.

Looked at my settings and media firmware to check and mine are the most recent so looks like an external problem as confirmed by other makes as you found. Could possibly be a coding change in the transmission in the UK or the subscription not being paid by manufacturers!! Seems strange that it still works for UK spec VAG cars in the rest of Europe.

VAG and others use the RDS service supplied by TrafficMaster in the UK.

TrafficMaster seem to have stopped broadcasting the data... from what I can make out the supplier tag is still in the signal but no data is being supplied...

TrafficMaster btw is more recently called "TeleTrac" - they bought the UK company.
