Title: New here, 2011 GTD
Post by: Big Hat Harry on 15 April 2023, 10:31
Quick introduction, about 20 years ago I had a 1987 Mk1 cabby, automatic, white, black roof. Loved it. Sold it when we emigrated. Always wished we’d kept it.

June last year moved back to Scotland. Bought a 2008 Mini Clubman, Cooper S. What an unreliable piece of sh!t that was, so we scrapped it. It was never going to be worth repairing.

Just bought a 2011 GTD. It’s not as outrageously fun as the Mini, but it is more comfortable, more roomy, and most importantly, it works. It’s so perfectly reliable. It’s more economical than the Mini too. It has full history, and came from the owner of a small independent VW specialist.

I should have bought one first. I’m steadily falling in love with it. Once we’ve re established our U.K. no claims etc I think we will be getting another, newer one.

I’ll post a pic when I take one.

Welcome to the forum .

I also owned a 2011 mk6 Golf GTD. I bought it new and it was one the favourite cars I’ve owned; well built, comfortable, good performance, economical and it was utterly reliable during the 4 years 9 months I owned it. A couple of pictures of mine below - it looks black in the first picture but it was Carbon Grey. The alloys are VW Rotary’s (I dislike diamond cut alloys which is why I changed them for the Rotary’s).

Enjoy your GTD!

Welcome Harry

Great cars the mk6 GTD. Last of the properly solidly built Golfs and a nice blend of performance and economy.

Did you emigrate to Oz? Why did you come back?
