Went to do my rear pads and discs the other day, and noticed that the calipers didn't match what I'd seen on the videos I'd watched. I'm assuming this is because all the videos were 7s rather than 7.5s, or because I have the PP and the videos didn't.
What I encountered was rather than just a bolt to hold the caliper on, there was a rubber cap to remove. Once done, it seemed like a triple square to get it removed? But the brake line was in the way...
Has anyone done this? I'd appreciate some light shedding on the topic as to how to go about this... thanks!

Should be able to undo the bolts/slider pins with a 7mm hex socket, IIRC, without disturbing the brake line.

Are you talking about splitting the caliper to change the pads or the bolts for the caliper mounting bracket to be able to change the disc?
The caliper mounting frame bolts are indeed triple squares and are pretty tricky to get loose if you're not using a lift - they are tight as buggery and you don't have much space to get at them - low profile M14?? sockets and some extension bars are your friends.

To change the pads there is no need to attempt to undo the M14 triple square bolts which hold the pad carrier to the hub, and as ub7rm says they can be a right royal pain to undo.
Just remove the small black caps and undo the sliders with a 7mm hex and you can lift the caliper out the way to change the pads.
I trust youve got something like OBDeleven/VCDS to put the calipers into service position if its got an Electronic Parking Brake??

Be warned those M14 triple squares are normally tight as hell and with restricted access can be a pain to remove.
Tip - get a scriber/pointed pick or something similar to clean out those splines where your socket fits so the socket engages as intended. Ths last thing you want is the socket slipping and damaging the splines. :angry:

Did mine last week and this same issue. I just moved the brake lines out of the way (albeit tight as hell) to get my wrench in.
Also the 90nm torque requirement for the carrier bolts was really hard to do. I ended up having 3 extension bars and a swivel. I wish i had a lift and not jack stands.

That sounds like one way to hit the knuckles :grin:
