Will there be a mk8.5? If so when is it likely
I love my ED45 but I’ll get hacked off if a facelift model shows up anytime soon
-
Going off previous generations, it'll probably be 2024/25
-
Yeah my guess will be MY25, which will be 2024.
Don't forget that its very likely the Golf as we know it ends production in 2030.
VW have said they are thinking of keeping the name for a BEV that is yet to come though.
-
The worry I would have is if a facelift does happen and they change the interior what priority will they put on sorting all the software issues out with the mk8.
-
In theory the software is unified.... but we shall see, the latest Mk8's already have features the OG ones didn't.
I think the bigger question mark is whether or not after 3 years VW give up trying to fix any more software problems with out of warranty cars...
In theory now all updates after 1896 are OTA, but whether they choose to push them to cars beyond 3 years is anyone's guess.
-
What features do new GTIs have they OG ones don’t?
-
I think software and issues are interesting… so here goes… my car does not do X properly. You need a software update to fix. So that will be free, no…..well it was there from manufacture so must be free….

Volkswagens MK’s usually last 8 years with a facelift half way through its lifetime that said with Covid basically f**king up the first year of Golf 8 launch globally I can’t imagine anything facelift till 2024/2025.

The latest thing I've seen is the Lane Change Assist - basically travel assist does the lane change for you, you indicate and it looks for a gap and steers you into it.
Think there are maybe some other new bits too, but thats the main one I've seen so far.
And before you ask, no, you can't code it onto yours - needs different hardware

Mine may have it. Its April 2022 build. Hadn’t even tried that. My Tesla Model 3 had that. Pointless gimmick in the UK as you still have to confirm the manoeuvre on the wheel.
I didn’t know you could code things… but now I know
Only messing
VW Retrofit did a good job coding my reverse cam in last week

If there is an 8.5 it will cost about £65k so dont worry about it :smug:

Apparently the R20 has it...

The saving grace on that is the crap software is also in the ID's so as they change should roll out changes to the Golfs I'd suspect

This just popped up on my facebook. Haven't read the articles as had issues clicking link things from Facebook causing me to be hacked in the past. :lipsrsealed:
Carbuzz.com "Volkswagen confirms that the facelift for the eighth-generation Golf will arrive in 2024."

IMHO the rendered image looks good. I also think Cupra’s UrbanRebel is a good looker too.
Let’s just hope it’s not let down by software that’s not fit for purpose .
